Homemade Pumpkin Face & Hair Mask
“When you clear the toxins of your body you clear some of the block within your mind.” -Tyophar
(How festive of me)
100% Pure Pumpkin
Apple Cider Vinegar (for oily skin and hair)
Mix ¼ cup of the pumpkin with 1 whole egg. Egg adds nourishment to the skin and helps with limp hair. Next, add in 2 tablespoons of honey. This step adds in an antibacterial aspect to the mask, which will help prevent future breakouts on the skin. Adding in apple cider vinegar is an optional step. If you find your skin and/or hair to retain extra oils, this step will do wonders for you and you only need to add in a sploosh! Lastly, take an aspirin and MASH it up until, what remains is, a powder like consistency. Now whisk together the concoction until smooth and you have yourself a pumpkin mask!
- Make sure you apply the mask to clean, makeup free, skin.
- Allow the mask 15-20 minutes to properly set.
- Wash off your face gently with warm water. Warm water is easier on your pores and better for exfoliation.
- Wash your hair as you typically would.
- PAT your face dry and then moisturize! (I loved following this mask with some coconut oil)
Wondering what to do with yourself as you sit with globs of kitchen ingredients on your head? I apply masks a couple of times a week and I have found those mere 20 minutes to be some of the most empowering minutes of my day. Throw on a calming playlist, or perhaps just focus on your breathing. Lay down and envision your day, what brought you joy, what made you laugh. Think about the other people you met eyes with that day, did you do anything to brighten theirs? Flash a smile, gift a compliment, random acts of kindness are so important. After being present in the day that you had, think to the future. Where is it you want to go? Envision yourself there. Try to think about the emotions you would feel in that moment, and feel them now, attract them to your person. Try to hold onto that feeling throughout the rest of your day.
P.S. Posting a photo of myself wearing the mask was up for debate but I found it much to frightening as it sort of looked like someone barfed all over my head.
