I have typed this post roughly three times now and for some reason it does not want to save! So as I try to laugh along with my frustrations I attempt to type it one last time. When the colder months begin to grace our presence with chilly mornings and skies at full gloom, my closet (and its essentials) slowly adjust into a more lazy and simple vibe. A winter essential that I cannot live without are capes. Poncho style, oversized, men’s or women’s, scarf-like, double-knit, whatever the kind…Something about capes really gets me when the holiday season hits. Perhaps its a capes sly resemblance of a blanket. I mean who wouldn’t want to walk around in a blanket all day, right? Or maybe its the very idea of being able to bundle up in something to get warm.
In the look above I decided to wrap up in one of my favorite capes. A men’s, charcoal gray, oversized wonder by Topshop. In an attempt to add a feminine touch, I belted it with a double-buckle, black, faux-leather belt with gold detailing. To contrast the belt, I threw on a pair of thigh-high, black, leather boots by Jeffrey Campbell. The gold spaced heel of the boot matches the details on my belt perfectly.
Side Note: Throwing on an intimidating (looking) pair of boots is a perfect way to make an, otherwise casual, outfit look somewhat effortful.
The basic elements of this look consist of a pair of black leggings and a basic black tank. Accessory wise I threw on a gold watch by Michael Kors and a few silver rings, for contrast. You may have noticed that I almost never take my rings off. Whether you are in the snowy Midwest, frozen East Coast, crisp South, or sunny West Coast, I hope the fast approaching winter season brings warmth and comfort to your closets!
P.S. I am really missing my mom today. If you are fortunate enough to have yours near, give her the biggest hug and remind her how much you love as much as she may drive you absolutely NUTS sometimes.
