Hello All! 2015 was a year of big changes, some uplifting and others challenging but changes nonetheless. I feel that when a new year approaches we often focus far too much on the future. So much so that we often neglect where we currently are…losing perspective. As I sat on New Years Day, to write my resolutions, it came to me that my goals and objectives had not changed from the day before. A year is a form of measurement, not just a time to go out and purchase a new calendar, and my year happened to start many moons before. I proceeded to ponder myriad cliché sayings in an attempt to find some type of resolution, for the future, but the more I searched for the future the more I realized I should be reflecting on the year I already had. How can this year assist me in making better decisions NOW in order to take massive action into the future? With that being said, my new year’s resolution is to remain in a present perspective. To remain conscious of how things may affect my future but to slow down and breathe. 2015 taught me to keep my eyes on the walk ahead only enough to not trip on my own two feet.

P.S. It took an old Billy Joel song to make me realize that I am putting myself in a future perspective, speeding through the present in an attempt to get to a place that I am not quite ready for yet. The song is titled “Vienna” by Billy Joel (Sample of Lyrics Below).
Slow down you crazy child
You’re so ambitious for a juvenile
But then if you’re so smart tell me,
Why are you still so afraid? (mmmmm)
Where’s the fire, what’s the hurry about?
You better cool it off before you burn it out
You got so much to do and only
So many hours in a day (Ay)
But you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want
Or you can just get old
You’re gonna kick off before you even get halfway through (Oooh)
When will you realize… Vienna waits for you
